Why we exist
Chung Engineering exists because many everyday systems don’t fail due to technical limitations — they fail because clarity, empathy, and long-term thinking were never part of the design requirements.
In domains like automotive care, people are routinely asked to trust systems they don’t understand, accept urgency they can’t verify, and make expensive decisions under pressure. Over time, this erodes trust — not because the work is dishonest by default, but because the system incentives drift away from the people they’re meant to serve.
Chung Engineering was formed to correct that drift.
How we operate
We are a small, systems-focused engineering company.
Our work emphasizes:
Diagnostics before action
Understanding what’s actually happening comes before recommending fixes.Education, not obfuscation
We explain what we see, why it matters, and what your options are — clearly and without pressure.Long-term thinking over short-term optimization
We design for years of ownership, not single transactions.Calm, human process
No urgency theater. No sales tactics. Just honest work and clear communication.
Trust is treated as a measurable system output — not a marketing claim.
What we don’t do
Just as important as what we do is what we intentionally avoid:
We don’t rush decisions.
We don’t sell fear.
We don’t optimize for upsells.
We don’t treat people as throughput.
These boundaries shape every service, tool, and system we build.
Why Harbor Dock
Harbor Dock is Chung Engineering’s first operating model.
Automotive care is one of the most complex, emotionally charged, and economically significant systems most people interact with — yet it’s also one of the least transparent. That makes it the ideal proving ground.
Harbor Dock is an experiment in what car care looks like when honesty, clarity, and calm are treated as core requirements — not value-adds.
It is not the end goal.
It is where the principles are tested under real-world pressure.
Looking forward
Over time, Chung Engineering will build additional tools, services, and systems in domains where people are routinely confused, overcharged, or ignored.
The guiding principle will not change:
Stewardship, engineered.
